Does between $28 million-$30 million with the ability for Alonso to opt out after, say, two years get it done? Does adding a vesting fifth-year option help?" [Subscription Required]

"Turning to Alex Bregman could make the most sense if a reunion with Alonso isn't in the cards...The Mets don't have a legitimate first base option on their 40-man roster aside from Vientos, so going internal would likely mean moving him over and having someone else from the 40-man play third base. The options for third base are numerous, with Jeff McNeil, Luisangel Acuña, Ronny Mauricio, and Brett Baty among them. But all of those players come with huge question marks."
