Mike Puma NY Post: Clay Holmes caps his masterful Mets spring by clearing critical ‘mental’ hurdle. "Clay Holmes went to the mound for the sixth inning Friday with mental fatigue to conquer. A former reliever who has stretched out to starter this spring for the Mets, the right-hander felt the full brunt of his new role, even as his arm wasn’t showing signs of duress. 'Physically, I was in a pretty good spot,' Holmes said...'But, man, six up just feels like you’re pitching forever out there. That’s just a mental thing.'”
Abbey Mastracco NY Daily News: Mets Notebook: Clay Holmes makes final spring start before taking mound on Opening Day. "In five Grapefruit League starts, Holmes posted a 0.93 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP...The Mets worked with Holmes to rework his pitch mix, bringing back the changeup he threw earlier in his career and adding a cutter to his repertoire. Holmes, who will turn 32 on Opening Day, still throws the devastating gyro slider, sweeper, cutter and four-seam fastball, but he’s now better equipped to go three times through the order."

Today's Game:
1:10 PM vs. Washington; Mets Scheduled Starter: Tylor Megill
Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' Brett Baty drawing rave reviews as potential Jeff McNeil fill-in. "Brett Baty is not surprising with his hot hitting, but has been 'really, really good' up the middle, manager Carlos Mendoza said....'And the range he has shown. I knew it was there, but to see it at second base up the middle, going to the right, going to the left, having the awareness on where to go on cuts and relays, and the communication in between pitches with not only Lindor but the other infielders.'"
Joel Sherman NY Post Sports+: The ‘roller coaster’ Brett Baty doesn’t want to ride is at a Mets crossroads. "If you believe in Baty, it is because he seems to have adopted a go-for-it attitude after some deer-in-the-headlights failure. He is encouragingly hitting the ball hard to all fields. He has taken well to second base, making outstanding plays Wednesday and Thursday (a really athletic turn of a double play) and then made two fine plays at his natural third on Friday...But the [roller coaster] ride does have him in an intriguing spot right now — having outstanding prospects of making the team … and perhaps more. (Subscription required)
Mike Puma NY Post Sports+: What Mets veteran Brandon Nimmo has learned as he enters 10th season as ‘one of the old guys on team’. "By far the longest-tenured Mets player, Nimmo has endured a rough spring training, with knee soreness curtailing his activity. But Nimmo resumed playing this week and appears ready for the opener...Nimmo: 'It’s a special feeling because you feel so blessed you have been able to stay in the game for this long and there’s been a lot of hard work that has gone into that. But also it’s bittersweet because I am probably past the halfway point of my career now. You feel like you are on the back half now and should savor every moment of it.'" (Subscription required)
Mike Puma NY Post: Mets’ Starling Marte staying ready for any outfield chances and ‘whatever the team needs’. “I like playing in the outfield,” Marte said. “I would like the opportunity to be in the outfield. Obviously, being the DH gives me more time for my knee to recover and it gives me more time for me to be off my feet....”
