Have we seen enough from Tylor Megill to say that he's earned a spot in the Mets' starting rotation?@AnthonyMcCarron and @JonAlba discuss on SportsNite:

Hayden Senger, "the Whole Foods catcher," just hit his first home run of spring -- and not a cheapie, at 106 mph off the bat.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) March 22, 2025
The Mets optioned Jakson Reetz today, essentially putting Senger on his first big league roster at age 27 -- barring an 11th-hour acquisition.
A.J. Minter (hip) threw a perfect inning today and is scheduled to pitch once more on Monday. Carlos Mendoza strongly indicated that if Minter comes out of that one without issue, he'll be on the Opening Day roster.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) March 22, 2025
Assuming Tylor Megill makes the rotation, the Mets have three bullpen spots available for some combination of A.J. Minter, Dedniel Núñez, Paul Blackburn, Max Kranick and Huascar Brazobán.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) March 22, 2025
Obviously, much depends upon whether the Mets deem Minter and Núñez healthy enough to go.
Will Sammon The Athletic: Mets’ Brett Baty no longer a prospect, but hope remains: ‘He’s gotta go out and do it’. "Scouts in the Grapefruit League say they see more confidence in Baty using his hands, and they like his timing against fastballs. But multiple scouts offer caution: They’ve seen similar versions of Baty before, and he’s yet to translate that success to the major leagues." (subscription required)

1973 | The Cardinals play three Cruz brothers, Cirilo, Hector, and Jose, all nine innings in the outfield during the team’s 9-2 spring training victory over New York at Al Lang Field. The trio Puerto Rican siblings, who personally outscore the Mets, bat first, second, and third in the Redbird’s lineup, making all three outs in the first and eighth frames. |
1978 | The Mets deal 34 year-old Bud Harrelson to Philadelphia for cash and minor league call-up Freddie Andrews, an infielder who will never play another game in the major leagues. The popular shortstop, as a 12-year veteran, could have vetoed the trade but chose to go Philadelphia to play for a contending team. |
