NY Post: Kodai Senga hits 96 mph as spring debut takes surprising Mets turn. "After a bizarre 2024 season, Senga’s 2025 began with a determination to return to action, an evolved arsenal and two strong, scoreless innings in a 1-1 tie with the Marlins at Clover Park...Senga will always be known for his ghost forkball, but he showed off a new sinker that gives him a new way to attack righty hitters especially. He threw the pitch three times (two balls and a foul ball) and now has a way to run the ball in on righty hitters’ hands."
Mets.com: Not so fast: Senga goes slow with new two-seamer by design in debut. "Right-hander looking to get a feel for the pitch before dialing it up in the regular season. Senga debuted a two-seam fastball, or sinker, in his Grapefruit League debut on Monday night at Clover Park. He threw it three times in a 1-1 tie with the Marlins, on average about 5 mph slower than his mid-90s four-seamer."
NY Post: David Peterson picks up where his Mets breakout left off in near-perfect spring debut. "The southpaw made his first Grapefruit League outing on Monday against the Marlins and picked up right where he left off last year, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts and surrendering just one hit and no walks...He threw 37 total pitches, 25 of which were strikes, forced five swings-and-misses and topped out at 94 mph in an impressive showing."
Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' David Peterson, rotation spot secured, excited to experiment in spring training. "Instead of sweating the line in the boxscore, he was and is able to focus more on experimentation. This time, that meant “getting back to game speed” and using all of his pitches, he said. The lefthander also cited a desire to sharpen his four-seam fastball to make it a better complement to his go-to sinker."

NY Post: Jose Siri showing Mets he has more to game than stellar fielding. "The Mets traded for Jose Siri primarily because he plays an excellent center field...But there is at least some hope that Siri can develop into a stronger hitter — some of the evidence showing up this spring. In his fifth Grapefruit League game [on Sunday], Siri blasted his third home run, which was tied for the most in baseball thus far as a 6-4 loss to the Red Sox concluded."
NY Post Sports+: Kevin Parada sees his Mets freefall as a blessing in disguise. "In 2023, he was the No. 3 Mets prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and No. 36 across the league...Two years later, he’s dropped out of the Mets’ top 30 and well out of the top 100 across the league in MLB Pipeline’s fresh 2025 rankings, released on Monday. So, what was it that he learned about himself? “The first thing is, I was like 220 [pounds] at one point because I wanted to be big and strong, and I realized that wasn’t really my play style,” said Parada, who is listed now at 197 pounds. 'That was the big part of losing the weight, I like to be leaner and more athletic in that way, instead of being big, bulky and strong. It feels better for myself.'"
Joel Sherman NY Post Sports+: Starling Marte remains intriguing trade option for AL contender. "The Royals made a push to try to acquire Starling Marte in winter, but could not find agreement with the Mets, who were interested in a reliever such as Hunter Harvey or Angel Zerpa while Kansas City wanted to give up a lesser arm. But Kansas City has not totally extinguished this possibility. The Royals have wanted to obtain a veteran bat who can hit fifth in their lineup, and they were willing to expand payroll with a three-year offer to Anthony Santander, who instead signed with Toronto."
NY Post: Brandon Nimmo ‘not overly concerned’ as knee soreness slows his Mets buildup. "Nimmo felt some right knee soreness Saturday that pushed him out of Sunday’s lineup and has slowed his progression. he is expecting to take it easy for a few days and reassess his knee Thursday, which is three weeks before the season opener."
MLB Pipeline released their Top 30 Mets Prospect List yesterday. Here are the Top 5: 1. Brandon Sproat, RHP (MLB No. 46); 2. Jett Williams, SS/OF (MLB No. 57); 3. Carson Benge, OF (MLB No. 100); 4.
