Good Morning. Happy Birthday Paul Lo Duca and Tomas Nido. Mets-Marlins game gets suspended due to rain but not before Michael Conforto gets dropped in the lineup.

As we had on Mack’s Mets, the “game against the Miami Marlins has been suspended due to rain. It will resume as the first game of a separate admission doubleheader on Tuesday, August 31 at 1:10 p.m.”
Tonight's Game: Phillies (6-3) @ Mets (2-3), 7:10 pm
NYM: David Peterson (#23, 25, LHP, 0-1, 13.50)
PHI: Chase Anderson (#57, 33, RHP, 0-1, 3.60)
Mets.com: Over the first 11 days of the season, the Mets have played just five times.

Post: Marcus Stroman unhappy Mets game started in rain: ‘Not smart’. “The
Mets wasted a start from Marcus
Stroman for seven minutes of soaking-wet baseball before their rubber match
with the Marlins at Citi Field entered a 2-hour, 10-minute rain delay and was
ultimately suspended.
This game should have never been started. Not smart at all. Those conditions put everyone at risk. Beyond happy no players on either side were injured. Hate that I have to wait another 5 days to pitch again. That’s a miserable feeling. However, #LFGM each and every day! @Mets

Greg
Prince Faith and Fear in Flushing: Another Rainy Day in Flushing Meadows. Nevertheless, the Mets’ inability on Sunday
to properly discern cloudy from clear provides us a pretty good metaphor for
the way they’ve conducted their on-field business, especially when at bat…like
the gray skies above Flushing, they’re bound to look all right soon enough.”
Luis Rojas explains the group decision to start today's game between the Mets and Marlins at Citi Field: pic.twitter.com/6RLGxH514V

Actually, Mets game was suspended. So the nine pitches Stroman threw count. Game will be picked up at that point on Aug. 31 at 1 as part of a split DH. First game 9 innings, second game 7 innings at 7. (1 of 2)

Felt bad for Luis Rojas having to explain why the Mets decided to start today’s game Sandy Alderson should have been the one to face the media with an explanation and why they didn’t use an opener and waste Stroman

Talking
Mets with Mike Silva: Minor League Baseball is Back. Is It Any Better? “Mike
Silva talks about the new minor league baseball setup with Greg Larson, author
of the book "Clubbie: A Minor League Baseball Memoir." Greg was a
clubhouse attendant in the NY-Penn League shares his thoughts on the new minor
league setup, tells us stories about life in a minor league clubhouse, and the
pitfalls of trying to make it to the big leagues.”

Post: Michael Conforto’s nightmarish start leads to Mets lineup demotion. “The Mets’ right fielder, who had hit
in the three-hole in each of the first five games of the season, was set to bat
sixth Sunday before the series finale against the Marlins at Citi Field was
suspended. Dominic
Smith replaced Conforto in the No. 3 spot — and could remain
there until Conforto snaps out of his funk.”

In front of 40,000 fans, the
expansion Mets are honored with a ticker-tape parade up lower Broadway. The
players, wearing their brand new home uniforms, along with broadcasters and
other officials ride in open convertibles, throwing plastic baseballs to the
enthusiastic crowd as they drive by. |
1986 |
In a humiliating 9–8 extra-inning
loss against the Phillies, the Mets blow a three-run lead in the bottom of
the ninth, thanks, in part, to Keith Hernandez's error allowing the leadoff
batter to reach base, opening the floodgates to Philadelphia's comeback. Six
years, the New York first baseman's Veterans Stadium miscue (albeit placed in
the wrong season and different venue) becomes the background of a conspiracy
theory detailed in an hour-long Seinfeld episode, The Boyfriend. |

A pair of tickets for the Mets
home opener at Citi Field, with a face value of $525 apiece, is auctioned off
for $7,500 on eBay. The ducats were owned by Bernard Madoff, who is in jail
after pleading guilty last month to defrauding investors, including Mets
owner Fred Wilpon, in a $65 billion Ponzi scheme. |
