Francisco Lindor SS 2 for 5, 2 RBIs, 1 run scored - hitting .224; Pete Alonso 1B 1 for 3, HR (12), 1 RBI, 1 run scored - hitting .237; Brett Baty 3B 0 for 3, 1 run scored, 1 walk - hitting .271; Francisco Alvarez C 2 for 2, 3 HRs (2nd and 3rd), 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, 1 K - hitting .241; David Peterson (L,1-5) 3.1 innings, 4 runs - all earned, 7 hits, 2 walks, 4 Ks; Stephen Nogosek 1.2 innings, 3 runs - all earned, 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 Ks; Jeff Brigham 1 inning, no runs, no hits, 1 walk, 2 Ks; Adam Ottavino; 1 inning, no runs, no hits; Drew Smith no runs, no hits, 1 K;
Mets360: Gut Reaction: Reds 7, Mets 6 (5/9/23) "Peterson couldn’t throw strikes. The constant pitching from behind led to seven hits and four runs before he was pulled after just 3.1 IP...Stephen Nogosek didn’t fare much better as he gave up 3 ER in 1.2 IP. And before you knew it, the Mets were down 7-1."
NY Post: Mets sink to new low with missed opportunities in loss to Reds "The night began to unravel on the Mets during a fifth inning that included Buck Showalter’s first ejection in his two seasons managing the club. Showalter got tossed after arguing that Wil Myers interfered with Lindor at second base as the shortstop attempted to field a grounder. On the play Myers appeared to grab Lindor’s glove as the ball dropped. Lindor indicated he wasn’t sure if Myers grabbed his glove, but said the runner should have been called out regardless...Francisco Alvarez was the Mets’ big offensive threat with two homers. It was the first multi-homer game of the rookie’s major league career."
Faith and Fear in Flushing: A Basic Baseball Equation "The Mets have been both bad and unwatchable for the better part of two weeks, so Tuesday night counted as progress: They were watchable."

"deGrom allowed one earned run on one hit over five innings with six strikeouts and three walks...threw two warm-up pitches before the start of the sixth inning Sunday and was soon in discussions with the trainer about the rest of his afternoon. Removed for precautionary reasons with what the team called right-side tightness, deGrom watched the reminder from the sidelines as the Mets extended their winning streak to a season-high five games with a 4-2 victory over the Diamondbacks at Citi Field."

Mets bat out of order. Reds walk it off in 10 innings.
NY Post: This might be Mets’ most humiliating loss of the year. "Chaos ruled in the first inning, following Asdrubal Cabrera’s two-out double. As Jay Bruce stepped into the batter’s box, plate umpire Gabe Morales — who had just been approached by Reds manager Jim Riggleman — ruled the Mets had batted out of order, and declared the inning over...According to the official scorer, the lineup card submitted to the umpires had Cabrera batting second and Wilmer Flores third. But in the inning, Flores batted second and Cabrera third...Adam Duvall’s homer off AJ Ramos leading off the 10th gave the woeful Reds two victories in the three-game series at Great American Ball Park."
