NY Post: Mets hiring Elizabeth Benn as director of major league ops in historic move. "While the Mets have other women working in baseball operations, Benn becomes the department’s highest ranking female in club history...Benn has spent the past four-plus years working at Major League Baseball...Benn is a pitcher herself, having played in a women’s league in Canada and, since 2016, the amateur New York City Metro Baseball League where she was the first woman to play in that league."
Back in August 2019, The Athletic profiled Elizabeth Benn, her role in the Commissioner's Office, and her time pitching in the Metro Baseball League including being called "smarter than everybody in the league." (Subscription required).

Mets.com: Doc Gooden’s 1983 Minor League season was ridiculous. The 18-year-old went 19-4 with a 2.50 ERA. He struck out 300 batters in just 191 innings.

And once again, MLB *can't* unilaterally cancel games. The number of games is a subject that is part of the CBA. MLB needs approval from the players in the CBA for season length.
