Mike Puma NY Post: "Pete Alonso had homered 106 times over his three-plus major league seasons, but never with the bases loaded...That changed Saturday night, when the Mets slugger found a 91 mph fastball from Joan Adon up in the strike zone and sent a towering fly ball to left field that kept carrying, nestling a few rows deep behind the fence at Nationals Park."

Mets Daddy: Pete Alonso Has Mets Feeling Grand. "You’d never know the New York Mets miss Jacob deGrom with the starting pitching they’ve gotten to start the season. Tonight, it was Chris Bassitt‘s turn to dominate."

Mets.com: "The resulting four runs made a winner of , who fired six shutout innings in his Mets debut, while allowing Showalter to become the first manager in Mets history to win his first three games with the club."

Brian Joura Mets360: "Bassitt showed excellent breaking stuff, which helped his low 90s fastball look more impressive than you’d think that type of heater would be. He gave up just three hits and two of those did not leave the infield. He also finished with 8 Ks in a dominating outing against a weak lineup."

Metstradamus: "I want “We’re going to grind you until you break” on a t-shirt, pronto. You can put Bassitt on it, or you could put Ivan Drago on it for all I care. I’ll be first in line for this shirt. Bassitt might have a better season than Max Scherzer, or perhaps not.
