Jake Mangum, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 2021 Team Card

MANCHESTER, NH – Jake Mangum had the go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning and a two-run triple in the eighth leading the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to a 9-4 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (14-17) on Saturday night at Delta Dental Stadium. Mangum finished 3-5 with two triples, three RBI, and a run scored while extending his hitting streak to 12 games.
With the game tied at one in the seventh, Zach Ashford led off the frame for Binghamton (11-20) with a walk against Gabriel Ponce (0-2). Matt Winaker was then hit by a pitch and Antoine Duplantis' sacrifice bunt moved both runners over. That set up second and third with one out for Mangum, who singled to left center to score Ashford and put the Ponies on top 2-1. Francisco Alvarez followed with an RBI single to right to make it 3-1.
In the eighth, with runners on first and third with none out, Ashford drove home Luke Ritter with an RBI double to left to make it 4-1 Ponies. Later in the inning, with runners on second and third with two out, Mangum came to the plate again. Mangum on a 1-0 pitch belted a two-run triple up against the wall in left, scoring both Vasquez and Ashford to make it 6-1. Alvarez then delivered another RBI single to make it 7-1.
In the ninth, Ashford drove a two-run homer over the right field wall, his second of the year, to make it 9-1. Ashford reached base four times on the night, finishing 2-4 with three runs scored and three RBI.
Alvarez was 2-4 with 2 RBI and a walk. Ritter finished 2-4 with three runs scored, a triple, a double, and a walk.
Jose Butto allowed four hits and one run over five innings with one walk and five strikeouts in the no decision. Josh Hejka (1-0) earned the win pitching two scoreless frames in relief.
The two teams conclude their series on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch at 1:35 PM and the pregame show getting underway at 1:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and 92.1 FM.
