Now that the World Series is over, the "Hot-Stove" league can get underway.  

Here are the key dates:

MLB.comOfficially, players become free agents the day after the conclusion of the World Series. However, they cannot sign with a new team until five days after the conclusion of the World Series.

MLB.comTrades involving players signed to Major League contracts are prohibited from the Trade Deadline to the conclusion of the World Series. The trade market opens up again the day after the World Series finale.

MLB.comTeams have until five days after the World Series to extend a qualifying offer to their free agents. The players who receive the offer then have 10 days to decide whether or not to take it.

The non-tendered deadline is November 18th.

The GM Meetings start in Las Vegas tomorrow, 11/7;

The Rule 5 Draft will be December 7.

The Baseball Winter Meetings will be held December 4-11 in San Diego.

It is All-Star Weekend in the AFL.  Yesterday was the Home Run Derby that featured no Mets players.  No. 21 Seattle prospect Robert Perez Jr. edges Orioles No. 9 prospect Heston Kjerstad for AFL Home Run Derby crown.
