Yesterday the Mets formerly announced that they signed 5 minor league free agents: "RHP Tommy Hunter, RHP Jimmy Yacabonis, OF Abraham Almonte and INF José Peraza who were all invited to Major League Spring Training. Additionally, the club re-signed RHP Sean Reid-Foley [who is recovering from Tommy John surgery] to a minor league contract."
Mets also announced that the Press Conference to introduce Justin Verlander will be next Tuesday at 10 AM.
Andrew McCarron SNY.TV: What's next for Mets this offseason, after adding catcher Omar Narvaez? Will Francisco Álvarez force his way into DH mix? Could Mets add power from free-agent group, including Michael Conforto, J.D. Martinez?
SNY.TV: Taijuan Walker credits Mets rotation for his maturation: ‘I learned a lot from those guys’ 'Just being in a rotation with those guys and picking their brains and taking in everything'
Joel Sherman NY Post Sports+: What the anything-is-possible Mets still need to add this winter. Joel talks about the Mets possibly upgrading the rotation with a younger, controlable arm, Bullpen needs and about the outfield he says this: "The Mets’ DH/backup outfield situation is right now Ruf, Daniel Vogelbach and Khalil Lee — with the option of using Jeff McNeil in the corner outfield if needed. That is like having a tarp on a mansion." (Subscription required).
Mike Puma NY Sports+: Why Brandon Nimmo has a chance to join one of the Mets’ most exclusive clubs. "On Thursday, the Mets celebrated Nimmo’s new eight-year contract for $162 million that should allow him to finish his career with the organization that selected him in the first round of the 2011 draft. If that comes to fruition, the 29-year-old Nimmo would join a short list — consisting of David Wright, Ed Kranepool and Ron Hodges — of those who played at least a decade and spent their entire career with the Mets."
