SNY.TV: Mets’ Max Scherzer flashes midseason form, but knows there’s ‘work to be done’. 'You get to this point and you get itching and ready to go, but these last two starts are big'
Before the game, Billy Eppler talked to the Press. Billy stated that Brandon Nimmo has a low grade sprain and is "week to week" and that Jose Quintana had successful surgery and graphed a bone from his left hip.
Mets.com: "'Everything is structurally sound,' Mets general manager Billy Eppler said. 'We have some time before Opening Day, so we will continue to watch him. We'll probably have an update on him a week from now and then we will be able to get a timetable on him. All and all, I feel good about the results we got compared to what they could have looked like.'"
Mets.com: "Quintana underwent bone graft surgery Friday night to repair a stress fracture in his left rib and will not return to the Majors until at least July. 'They were able to clear some of the area that had the lesion packed with some healthy bone that doctors took out of his left hip,' said general manager Billy Eppler."
Also before the game, the Mets announced the following roster moves: OF Abraham Almonte and OF Jaylin Davis were reassigned to minor league camp. INF Ronny Mauricio and LHP Joey Lucchesi were optioned to Triple-A.
After the game via Twitter, the Mets announced that RHP William Woods, C Hayden Senger, and OF Lorenzo Cedrola were reassigned to minor league camp.
SNY.TV: Mets’ David Robertson ready to pitch whenever needed in Edwin Diaz’s absence. 'I’ll do whatever it takes to help this team win'.

- Even with slow spring start, Pham will be a solid 4th outfielder. Writer Dalton Allison makes this case saying "There is no doubt that Pham has started slowly this spring. Yet having the presence of someone like Pham on the roster, who is not afraid to get heated and rile up his team in intense situations, could be beneficial to a team that is looking to take a step forward from a 101 win season." Kevin Kernan Ballnine: Passion Play. "This is not Nerd Ball. This is baseball. 'Other countries are becoming more baseball countries than we are,' one longtime talent evaluator told BallNine. That says it all. In Japan, 48 percent of the households were tuned into Japan’s 9-3 win over Italy; a larger percentage of households than watched Super Bowl LVII this year in the U.S. The overall attendance at the first round was 1,010,999, a 98 percent increase over the attendance in 2017. With numbers like these, these games are not meaningless."

1999 - The career of New York Mets pitcher Paul Wilson is derailed again when he suffers a partially torn ligament in his pitching elbow while warming up before a three-inning stint in a minor league game. An MRI will show a partial tear of a ligament in his elbow, and on March 30th he will undergo Tommy John surgery which will sideline him for the year.
2012 - New York Mets owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, facing a $300 million lawsuit, agree to pay $162 million into a trust fund for victims of Bernard Madoff's fraudulent investment scheme, thus averting a trial. The payoff is because the Mets were among the few investors who made money out of their investments in Madoff's fund, while thousands of smaller investors lost everything when the whole house of cards collapsed in 2009. Wilpon and Katz will put up $29 million of their own money in the settlement.
Here is what Dave Rubin of Mack’s Mets said about the settlement.
