The Mets did not have a game yesterday but the big news was Jose Quintana and his rib injury:
SNY.TV: "Jose Quintana underwent imaging on Monday that revealed a small stress fracture on his fifth rib on his left side, the Mets announced. The lefty will travel back to New York to undergo further imaging, the team said."
NY Post: "Even in a best-case scenario, Quintana is likely to miss the start of a season that begins in just over three weeks...He likely will miss significant time, according to a medical professional who has not evaluated Quintana...The timeline will depend upon the severity of the fracture...Boston’s Chris Sale suffered a stress fracture in his right rib cage last season that kept him out beginning in February until he began a rehab assignment in June."
MLB Trade Rumors: Even if he’s able to return to the mound in short order, he would still need some time to build up his pitch count. It was around this time last year that Red Sox lefty Chris Sale was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his rib, which prevented him from making his season debut until July.

Danny Abriano SNY.TV: Mets must be prepared to make aggressive roster decisions that match all-in nature of their season. "Prospects like Brett Baty and Mark Vientos should be up as soon as they're deemed the best options at their respective spots."
Andy Martino SNY.TV: Early Mets and Yankees spring training observations. "Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio still have work to do...Watching the games from behind the plate, one is struck by how Baty’s lateral movement and agility still need work...Mauricio, meanwhile, will need to learn third base or left field if he is to remain a Met, a fact that he acknowledged last week. Shortstop is spoken for. That defensive education will need to happen in Triple-A."
NY Post: David Robertson acted as own agent to join Mets for another World Series shot. "Robertson signed a one-year, $10 million to join the Mets...Among the advantages Robertson points to is having one-on-one contact with teams...'I know a lot of guys on the business side in front offices and it’s easier for me to have a quick conversation with them to find out if they’re in or out.'"
Joel Sherman NY Post: Jarred Kelenic could still change Edwin Diaz trade perception. "Jarred Kelenic has homered four times in his first six spring games — all blasts, none pulled. Both Kelenic and his Mariners bosses view this as validation of work he did this offseason to refashion his swing away from all or nothing."
The NY Post talked to Mets Pitching Prospect Grant Hartwig who rose quickly through the minor leagues last year. After not getting drafted Grant was studying to get into Medical school "where [he] intended to become an orthopedic surgeon — in part due to the importance of the elbow surgery that extended his own career..." Billy Eppler was also quoted in the article saying "Hitters will tell you if someone can pitch or not and hitters are telling us that Grant Hartwig can pitch."
