The Brooklyn Cyclones (32-22, 60-59) continue their two-week road trip with six games against the Greenville Drive (23-31, 59-61) — the High-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox — starting on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. from Fluor Field at the West End in Greenville, S.C. 

RHP Jordany Ventura (3-1, 4.04) — the Mets’ No. 29 prospect per Baseball America — is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn against Greenville’s RHP Noah Song (0-2, 4.09 ERA).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn's 4-game winning streak was halted on Sunday afternoon at Asheville, 8-1...Tourists scored 7 runs on 6 hits in the bottom of the 1st, sending 12 batters to the plate...8 of the 9 in Asheville's lineup reached base at least once...3B Chase Estep broke up the shutout for the Cyclones in the 8th with a solo home run...RHP Nic Swanson (5.0 IP) and RHP Alex Santos II united on a 2-hitter for the Tourists...Swanson hurled 5.0 shutout innings for his 1st South Atlantic League win, while Santos II earned his 2nd save...CF Zach Cole, DH Jacob Melton, and 1B Ryan Wrobleski each composed multi-hit games for the Tourists...Wrobleski added multiple RBIs, as well. 

 

ON THE FINAL FEW CORKSCREWS: Brooklyn is looking to secure a second-straight playoff appearance and has won 7 of their last 11 series since Greenville won 4-of-6 on Coney Island from June 6-11...The Cyclones are 7-2-2 in their last 11 sets...Brooklyn is 32-22 in the second half and 2 games ahead of Jersey Shore (30-24) atop the North Division of the SAL with 12 games left to play...The BlueClaws hold the tiebreaker over Brooklyn as a result of winning the season series (15-11).


THE BROOKLYN BATTING COMPANY: The Cyclones' streak of home runs in 7-straight games dating back to August 18 vs. Hudson Valley ended on Saturday night...The 7-consecutive games with a home run set a new franchise record dating back to the start of Minor League Baseball's stat portal in 2005...The previous high had been 6-straight games last accomplished from September 5-10, 2021, vs. Wilmington and at Hudson Valley...Brooklyn blasted 15 round-trippers during the streak for an average of 2.14 per game...Over the last 9 games, Brooklyn has powered more home runs (16) than any other Single-A team...The 'Clones hold a 6-3 record and have accumulated 66 runs (7.33 R/G) and 82 hits (9.11 H/G)...The Cyclones also tied a season-high with 4 home runs in Thursday's win at Asheville...Brooklyn also blasted 4 long balls in a 6-1 win vs. Hudson Valley on June 23...The Cyclones smashed 11 home runs (1.83 HR/G) in the first 6 games of the road trip against the Tourists, scoring 49 total runs (8.17 R/G). 

 

JETT THE MET: INFs Jett Williams made his Cyclones debut on August  1 and has been stellar all summer long…Since returning from the All-Star break on July 14, the 19-year-old is slashing .333/.485/.620 with a 1.105 OPS, 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, 18 RBI, 37 walks, and 15 stolen bases in 37 games between Brooklyn and Single-A St. Lucie…Since that date, no player in Minor League Baseball (min. 165 PA) has a higher on-base percentage (.485)...He is also 2nd in OPS (1.105), tied for 3rd in walks (37), 6th in slugging percentage (.620), 9th in batting average (.333)...On the season, Williams is tied for 7th in Minor League Baseball in walks (91)…Among teenagers, Williams ranks 2nd in MiLB...Since making his SAL debut, the Rockwall, Texas, native has led the circuit (min. 90 PA) in batting average (.326), on-base percentage (.468), OPS (1.061), doubles (8), and walks (22)...He is also tied for 1st in extra-base hits (13), and 2nd in hits (28) and stolen bases (9)...Among SAL players with at least 100 plate appearances in 2023, Williams is 2nd in the circuit in OBP (.468) and walk rate (20.2%), and 5th in wRC+ (187), wOBA (.472), and OPS (1.061). 

 

BINGO BOUND: With 6 strikeouts on Friday night, RHP Joander Suárez broke a tie with RHP Blade Tidwell (112) for Brooklyn's single-season strikeout record...The 23-year-old holds the all-time mark with 118 punchouts in 2023...Tidwell set the mark earlier this season...On Tuesday, he and C Kevin Parada were transferred to Double-A Binghamton...Over his last 12 appearances (11 starts) with the team, Suárez held only a 4-5 record, but a 3.34 ERA (21 ER in 56.2 IP), 17 walks (7.3 BB%), and 79 strikeouts (33.8 K%)...Narrowed down to his last 8 starts, the Cumaná, Venezuela native was 2-4, yet holds a 2.72 ERA (13 ER in 43.0 IP) with 10 walks (5.7 BB%) and 54 strikeouts (34.1 K%)...Since the start of July, Suárez was tied for the SAL lead and tied for 7th in Minor League Baseball in strikeouts (63)...Parada was reinstated off the injured list before last week's series at Asheville, going 5-for-24 (.208) with 2 doubles, a home run, and 5 RBI in 5 games...Over his final 42 games with Brooklyn, the 22-year-old slashed .287/.344/.509 with an .853 OPS...Among players with 180-plus plate appearances, Parada ranked 5th in the SAL in slugging (.509), 7th in OPS (.853), and 8th in batting average (.287)...For the season, the Pasadena, Calif. native was 9th in the league in doubles (21).
