  • From the Brewers 7 Mets 6 Post Game Notes 3/30/2024
    • Mets: Lost their first two games of the season for the first time since 2014 when they opened the season with three straight loss vs. Washington.
    • Francisco Alvarez (3-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R): Put the Mets on the board with a solo homer in the second...Also laced an RBI single in the fourth...Has 15 multi-RBI games since May 1, 2023, tied for fifth-most in the majors by a catcher during that span...Was his second career four-hit game (Also: 4 hits, 7/7/23).
    • Pete Alonso (2-4, HR, RBI, R): Lined a solo home run in the ninth...Passed Howard Johnson to move into fourth place on the Mets all-time home run list.
    • Edwin Díaz (1.0 IP, H, K): Threw 1.0 scoreless inning in his first big league game since 2022...Missed the entire 2023 season after undergoing surgery to repair the patella tendon on his right knee.
    • Luis Severino (5.0 IP, 12 H, 6 ER, 6 K): Became the 25th pitcher to start a game for both the Yankees and Mets...(Last: Bartolo Colon, 2011 with the Yankees and 2014 with the Mets).
    • Brett Baty (1-1, HR, 3 RBI, R): Launched a pinch-hit three-run homer in the eighth, his first career pinch-hit blast...Was his second career home run off of a left-handed pitcher (Also: 5/1/23 vs. Atlanta, Dylan Lee).
    • Yohan Ramírez (0.1 IP): Was ejected from the game in the seventh inning.

Brewers scored 3 in the 1st and the Mets didn't get back into the game until late.  Rhys Hoskins with a 2 RBI double in the 1st and  2 run homer in the 3rd.  Mets loaded the bases in the first but didn't score as Jeff McNeil filed to CF to end the inning.  Alvarez, Baty, and Alonso homered and Yohan Ramirez was ejected for throwing behind Rhys Hoskins.

Brian Joura Mets 360: Luis Severino single-handedly tried to prove that Spring Training stats don’t matter, as he allowed 6 ER in 5 IP, putting the Mets in a big hole early. The Mets rallied late with the home run ball but came out on the short side of a 7-6 score Saturday afternoon against the Brewers at Citi Field.

Newsday: Mets fall to 0-2 after Rhys Hoskins, Brewers get the best of them again. Through two games, the Mets have no wins and lots of Hoskins-centric frustration. This one remained a loss despite late homers from Pete Alonso and Brett Baty and Edwin Diaz’s first appearance since 2022.
