NY Post: Mets’ next two key series could reveal telling truth  “The gauntlet begins Friday, when the Mets begin a three-game series at home against a Braves team that in some ways has started slowly — Matt Olson is hitting .200; Ronald Acuña Jr. is batting just .261 with two home runs; Michael Harris II owns a .671 OPS — and yet is still averaging the fourth-most runs in baseball, partly because Marcell Ozuna entered play as the majors’ home run leader...The Mets will see the Phillies for the first time this season Monday to start a four-game series that is split between Queens and Philadelphia."

NY Post: Mets ‘having discussions’ with tricky rotation decision looming. “The Mets will roll with Jose Quintana, Christian Scott and Luis Severino, in that order, in the series at Citi Field that begins Friday against the Braves…But the Mets have left open the possibility of a six-man rotation — and likely will have one when Kodai Senga is ready to return, probably in June — which means they will have a decision to make by Wednesday.

Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' six-man rotation: A closer look at their plans. Tim explains the benefits: "It works for Kodai Senga. It helps their older pitchers. It’s fine by their younger pitchers. They have the bodies for it."

Tim Healey Newsday: Mets don't want their backstops catching any bad breaks. "The closer catchers are to the batter, the earlier they catch the pitch, the more likely it is to be called a strike, Mendoza explained. That is especially true for low pitches."

The Athletic: New York Mets mailbag, Part 2: Stopping steals and finding fits in the rotation "Through Wednesday, the Mets had allowed 52 stolen bases in 55 attempts. That was 14 more steals than any other team had allowed and tied for the fewest caught stealings despite the volume. It’s hard to achieve that combination." (Subscription required).
