7/21/24: New York Mets Roster Moves - Mets Get RHP TJ Shook for LHP Tyler Jay

The New York Mets announced the following roster move on Twitter: "RHP TJ Shook has been acquired from Milwaukee in exchange for LHP Tyler Jay."

TJ Shook, 25, has never appeared in the Major Leagues.  He pitched to a 5-7 record in Double-A Biloxi this year with a 4.90 ERA in 17 games, 11 starts, 64.1 innings, 62 hits, 25 walks, 77 Ks.  He had a bad month of May where he went 2 and 4 with a 7.66 ERA allowing 19 ER in 22.1 innings.

The Mets have assigned TJ to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Roster.

TJ was signed as a non-drafted free agent in July 2020.  He is Rule 5 Eligible.  

Tyler Jay was DFA'd by the Mets on July 17th when LHP Alex Young was claimed off Waivers.  That gave the Mets 5 days to place him on waivers, release or trade him.
