  • Recorded their seventh shutout of the season...All seven of their shutouts have come since July 11...The Mets did not record a shutout in their first 91 games of the season...Are the second-most shutouts in the majors during that span behind only San Diego (Eight).
  • Have turned two or more double plays in three consecutive games for the first time since August 5 - August 7, 2019...Have turned multiple double plays in four of their five last games.
  • Is the 19th active pitcher to reach the 100-career win plateau...Is the sixth active left-handed pitcher with 100+ wins...Is the first Colombian born pitcher with 100 career wins.
  • Has given up one or fewer earned runs in each of his last three starts...Had a 9.19 ERA (16 ER/15.2 IP) in his previous three starts.
  • Lined a solo-home run to right center field in the sixth inning to give the Mets a 1-0 lead...The hit snapped an 0-15 streak...Now has nine career home runs against the Reds, which is his most against any single one opponent...His last three hits have been home runs.

  • Singled home a run in the sixth inning to extend the Mets lead to 2-0.
  • Hit a two-run double down the left field line in the sixth inning to increase the score to 4-0...Has an .880 OPS over his last nine games.

NY Post: Mets roll to ninth straight win as Jose Quintana picks up 100th career victory. "The Mets silenced the Reds behind excellence from Jose Quintana and their bullpen, needing just one big inning to run their win streak to nine with a 4-0 shutout at Citi Field."

NY Post: Mets’ weighing new Jeff McNeil-less second base plan. "The loss of Jeff McNeil for at least the rest of the regular season will lead to Mets decisions, both with second base and with a roster spot...The plan, which could change, was for DJ Stewart to be recalled for a team that is short on lefty bats...Stewart did not play Saturday for Triple-A Syracuse, another sign that he would be summoned."

Laura Albanese Newsday: Mets win ninth in a row as Jose Quintana picks up career victory No. 100. "And even after their 4-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field — their season-high ninth in a row — there’s a distinct sense that there is so, so much further to go. They know Francisco Lindor has to keep getting on base, they know they have to keep pulling out strong pitching performances and they know they will have to compensate for the loss of Jeff McNeil, who almost certainly is out for the season with a broken wrist."

1964
The Mets announce the signing of 18 year-old right-hander Bill Denehy. The recent high school graduate, who struck out 151 batters in 81 innings, posted a 10-1 record for Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown, Connecticut, and won three tournament games en route to leading his team to the state championship.
1967
The Mets, at the urging of their fans, honor former Dodger pitcher Sandy Koufax, who retired last season when arthritis ended his career prematurely at the age of 30. The Brooklyn-born southpaw, who threw a no-hitter against New York in 1962, started twenty games against the Amazins, compiling a 17-2 record, that included 14 complete games and 5 shutouts.
1996
Mets catcher Todd Hundley joins Mickey Mantle as the only other switch hitter to hit 40 home runs in a season when he goes deep off Joe Borowski in the seventh inning of the team's 6-2 victory at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. The 27 year-old backstop's round-tripper also breaks the club record for most homers in a single year, established in 1988 by Darryl Strawberry.

1969: At Shea Stadium, the Mets top the Cubs, 3 - 2, on Tommie Agee's 2-run home run. Jerry Koosman beats Bill Hands and strikes out 13 Cub batters. Chicago has now lost five in a row and leads the Mets by 1 1/2 games.

1972: In the first game of a doubleheader with the Cardinals, the Mets win, 8 - 2, as John Milner collects a homer, double, and three singles in five at-bats. Milner had another home run in the 1st inning of game 2, but the Cards turn around, using a pair of homers in the 13th to win, 9 - 4.

1993: Houston's Darryl Kile no-hits the Mets, winning by a score of 7 - 1. He fans nine and walks 1. Mets 3B Butch Huskey becomes the 3rd player in history to make his major league debut on the losing end of a no-hitter. Byron Browne and Don Young of the Cubs did so in Sandy Koufax's perfect game in 1965.

2011: The Braves sweep a doubleheader from the Mets at Citi Field, increasing their lead in the Wild Card race to 7 1/2 games. A pair of rookies pick up the wins, Mike Minor in the 6 - 5 defeat of New York in the opener, and Julio Teheran, with his first major league victory, as the Braves prevail, 5 - 1, in the nightcap. All four starters are in fact rookies (Chris Schwinden and Dillon Gee start for the Mets), the first time four rookie pitchers are the starters in a doubleheader since 1965.
