Jon Heyman NY Post: Yankees, Mets up Juan Soto bids north of $700 million as his historic free agency nears end. "The Yankees and Mets both remain heavily involved in the five-team Juan Soto Derby, with both clubs recently upping offers into the $710 million-$730 million range — MLB record territory — as it’s believed the sweepstakes could be within a day or two of an historic conclusion."

Mike Puma NY Post: Mets head into Winter Meetings with pressing issues outside Juan Soto hunt. "Would Soto landing with the Mets increase or decrease the probability Alonso returns?"..."Finishing the rotation" and "Could the Mets find a deal for pitching or a potential DH without sacrificing top prospects?" are all discussed.

Tim Healey Newsday Mets at MLB's winter meetings: It's not just about Juan Soto. "The Mets would benefit from adding surer relievers...Lefthander Tanner Scott, perhaps the top free-agent reliever, would be an upgrade on what Brooks Raley was supposed to be in 2024 (before he got hurt in April). David Robertson is worth a one-year deal until he proves he isn’t. The similarly ageless Chris Martin would help the Mets fix their walks issue from last season."

NY Post: Prized Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki expected to be posted at Winter Meetings. "Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki is expected to be posted during the meetings this week, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed Saturday, which will open a 45-day window in which clubs try to recruit him to their side...The 23-year-old righty is being treated as an international amateur, and thus his contract will be restricted to the pool of money that teams allocate toward the international free agent market."

NY Post: Steve Serby's Sunday Interview: Billy Wagner feeling Hall of Fame anxiety before final time on ballot: ‘Most disturbing part

NY Daily News: Keeping late Mets PR exec Shannon Forde’s legacy alive through renovations to field named in her honor. "Eight years ago, MLB honored the memory of the late Mets public relations executive by using the proceeds of the annual “Play Ball” auction to renovate and rename the field in her New Jersey hometown, just down the road from where Forde and her sister Alicia grew up. Forde passed away at 44 years old earlier that year after a long battle with breast cancer...Now, friends, family and community members are working toward a more ambitious plan for the field, raising money for more renovations with the hope of being able to host an NCAA softball playoff round in the near future."
