PRESS RELEASE:VISITING CLUBHOUSE AT CITI FIELD TO BE NAMED IN HONOR OF TONY CARULLO

Carullo Also Will Receive Mets Hall of Fame Achievement Award

FLUSHING, N.Y., January 16, 2025The New York Mets today announced the team will name Citi Field's visiting clubhouse after Tony Carullo. In addition, he will receive the Mets Hall of Fame Achievement Award in a pre-game ceremony prior to the game vs. Cincinnati on July 19.

Carullo worked for the Mets for 51 years, beginning as a bat boy in 1969. In 1974, he became the Assistant Visiting Clubhouse Manager. He was promoted to Visiting Clubhouse Manager prior to the 1976 campaign, a role he held until his retirement after the 2019 season.

"I'm incredibly honored," said Carullo. "I would like to thank Steve and Alex Cohen for this wonderful gesture. I spent over half of my life working for the Mets in the visiting clubhouse and it was a job of a lifetime. But it was the special people within the organization that made it like a family to me. I want to thank everyone in the front office and ballpark operations that helped make my job easier, especially my clubhouse staff over the years. I would also like to thank Fred Wilpon for being so kind to me. I'm truly looking forward to July 19."

"I am both honored and excited to share this incredibly special day with an equally special person and good friend, Tony Carullo," said David Wright, who will have his No. 5 retired and enter the Mets Hall of Fame that day. "Tony's contributions to the organization are impactful and it is very deserving to learn that moving forward, the visiting clubhouse will bear his name. Congratulations, buddy. Well deserved."

Carullo is the sixth recipient of the Mets Hall of Fame Achievement Award, presented to members of the organization for their contribution to the franchise. The previous winners are: Bob Mandt, Pete Flynn, Harry Minor, Al Jackson and Jay Horwitz.

Tickets for the July 19th game as well as any other Mets home game for the 2025 season are available online at Mets.com/Tickets or by calling (718) 507-TIXX.
