Mike Puma NY Post: Versatile Jett Williams doing what it takes to reach ultimate Mets goal after last year’s injury. Mike talked to Jett about his injury last year and Jett talked about the Mets locker room: “It just goes to show what type of team this is, that you can come in, if you are on the team or not on the team, it just helps that they welcome you and make you feel comfortable and say if you do make it to the big leagues you don’t have to worry about anything. You just go out there and play.”
Baseball America: 30 MLB Prospects Facing Critical Seasons In 2025, For the Mets they have Drew Gilbert, OF. "A hamstring injury wrecked Gilbert’s first full season with the Mets, and he didn’t look particularly explosive—or on time at the plate—once he returned in the second half...This is a big season for Gilbert to prove his skill set is dynamic enough to push for outfield playing time and avoid being pigeon-holed into more of a part-time role." NY Post: Grapefruit League 2025: Cheapest Mets, Yankees spring training tickets. Mets tickets start as low as $7. Yankees Spring tickets start at $12. Tickets to the Cardinals and Marlins are just $3.
Will Sammon The Athletic: Analysis: Mets don’t plan to add to rotation after Frankie Montas injury. But should they? "...the Mets achieved one of ...Stearns’ goals by building more starting pitch depth...The issue is each of those names carries a fair question...How many innings can Senga give the Mets? Can Manaea repeat his success? Can Peterson eschew what the expected numbers say about his 2024 season and avoid regression? Can Holmes successfully transition from reliever to starter? Can Canning perform better with the Mets than he did with the Los Angeles Angels? Can Megill sustain his second-half success? Can Blackburn stay healthy after his scary spinal injury?" 1966 |
The
Mets trade Wayne Graham, Bobby Klaus, and Jimmie Schaffer to the Phillies for
first baseman Dick Stuart, who will join the Dodgers after being released by
the team in June. During his brief tenure with the Amazins,' Dr. Strangelove
plays in 31 games, hitting .231 while committing six errors. |
2008 |
The
Mets, who had not gone to arbitration with a player in 16 years, come out on
the short end of the hearing when southpaw Oliver Perez (15-10, 3.56) gets a
favorable decision in his case from arbitrators Steven Wolf, Robert Bailey,
and Elizabeth Neumeier. The southpaw is awarded $6.5 million for this year,
rather than the club's offer of $4,725,000. |
2017 |
"I think it's a mistake to stick our head in the sand and
ignore the fact that our game has changed, and continues to
change". - MLB COMMISSIONER ROB MANFRED, commenting on the
new intentional walk rule. In an effort to speed up the game, MLB announces the approval
of implementing an intentional walk with a signal from the dugout, rather
than the need of throwing four pitches out of the strike zone. Although the
new rule will eliminate about only a minute of play, some believe the new
approach rids the sport of an antiquated way of issuing a deliberate
base-on-balls. |
