Jett the Met! Mets 2022 - 2nd - Round One Draft Pick - 14th Overall - Jett Williams, SS

With their second Round One selection in the 2022 MLB Draft, the Mets have taken Jett Williams, SS, Rockwall-Heath (Texas) HS
Analysis by David J. Rubin: "From Scout contact - Too good of a kid to pass up. Great speed but even better running instincts. For a little guy has surprising power and has a phenomenal hit tool. He is one of those kids who you would have to forcefully remove from the batting cage or from taking infield practice because he is a real old-fashioned gamer. He was raking this summer & with very quick hands & a smooth stroke this surprising little guy might end up sitting at the top of a batting order for many years to come"

Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50

At 5-foot-8, Williams might be the smallest player on our Draft Top 250, but he's also a favorite gut-feel guy for a lot of scouts. One crosschecker called him the best hitter on the summer showcase circuit, where he raked despite an injury to his right shoulder. The Mississippi State recruit could factor into the middle of the first round, especially to a club that thinks he can stay at shortstop.

On the Mets Press Zoom call Jett stated that he in Port Jefferson as a young child - his dad went to Stony Brook
