Mets.com: McNeil wins NL Silver Slugger Award at 2B: "McNeil led all players with a .326 average this season, becoming the first Mets player to win an NL batting title since Jose Reyes in 2011 -- and the only player in franchise history to lead the Majors overall. McNeil also had 39 doubles this season, tied with Altuve for the most by any player who played at least 100 games at second base."
Mets Pick up Carlos Carrasco Option; No Qualifying offer to Taijuan Walker: They also picked up the 2023 option on John Curtiss who missed all of 2022 due to Tommy John Surgery, extended Qualify Offers to Jacob deGrom, Chris Bassitt and Brandon Nimmo. and outrighted Terrance Gore to Syracuse who then declared himself a Free Agent.
Yesterday was also the day that eligible Minor League Free Agents could opt for Free Agency. The list of Mets Minor League players to declare has not been announced yet but we will have it here on Mets News when it is.

Brian Joura Mets360: Billy Eppler on Francisco Alvarez making the team in 2023. Talking about Billy's comments this past Wednesday about Francisco Alvarez, Brian again makes lots of good points including this - "And the thing that irked me about that quote from Eppler is that how often Alvarez catches should have absolutely nothing to do with the multipurpose ability of Guillorme and McNeil. The primary thing that should matter is the relationships that Alvarez can forge with the starters."
Billy Eppler announces that the Mets will pick up the following team options for 2023:

Mets.com:
MLB.com: Toughest decisions for each team ahead of Rule 5 Draft. For the Mets they mention "Jordany Ventura, RHP (No. 20 Mets Prospect) On stuff alone, the 22-year-old righty is someone you’d want to keep around. He flashes decent velocity at 93-95 mph, and his mid-80s changeup got a healthy amount of whiffs this season at Single-A St. Lucie. Unfortunately, however, he’s managed 8 2/3 innings since 2019 due to the pandemic (2020), Tommy John surgery (2021) and a pectoral strain (2022). Rule 5 teams have done weird things in the past by selecting oft-injured pitchers and stashing them for a year, and that could be a strategy here, should the Mets leave him unprotected."
VOTE NOW: 8 Mets up for All-MLB honors: Pete Alonso, 1B; Edwin DÃaz, RP; Francisco Lindor, SS; Starling Marte, OF; Brandon Nimmo, OF; Jeff McNeil, 2B; Max Scherzer, SP; Daniel Vogelbach, DH;
