Press Release - Carlos Mendoza Named Mets Manager "The New York Mets today announced that they have named Carlos Mendoza the 25th manager in team history, agreeing to terms on a three-year contract with a club option for a fourth year. He will be introduced in a press conference in the Piazza 31 Club at Citi Field on Tuesday, November 14 at 12 p.m...Mendoza...will wear uniform #28...Mendoza said. 'I want Mets fans to know that I will pour every ounce of energy into this job and we share a common goal of bringing a championship to Queens.'"

They rank fourth for in-zone whiff, sixth in chase rate and ninth in xwOBA against. They have some interesting traits under the hood, they rank first in extension, sixth in four-seam fastball xwOBA, third in slider in-zone whiff and fourth in changeup in-zone whiff. They also throw the fourth most amount of sliders of any organization."

Nelson Doubleday and Fred Wilpon buy the World Champion Mets from the Doubleday Publishing Company for $80.75 million. In 1980, the book company had purchased the franchise for a then-record $21.1 million.

2012:  The Cy Young Awards are announced in both leagues. In the National LeagueR.A. Dickey of the Mets is the first knuckleballer ever so honored after finishing the year with a record of 20-6, 2.73 and 230 strikeouts. In the American LeagueDavid Price of the Rays edges last year's winner, Justin Verlander of the Tigers, 153 to 149. Price receives 14 first-place votes after finishing the season at 20-5, 2.56 with 205 Ks, while Verlander gets 13, after a season during which he went 17-8, 2.64 with 239 strikeouts.

2018 - In spite of notching just 10 wins, Jacob deGrom of the Mets wins the 2018 National League Cy Young Award, receiving 29 of 30 first-place votes. His major-league leading ERA of 1.70 convinced voters to set aside his win/loss record, which was largely influenced by terrible run support. In the American LeagueBlake Snell of the Rays is the winner after going 21-5 with an ERA of 1.89.
