12/11/23: Mets Roster Moves - INF Rylan Bannon signed to Minor Deal

The New York Mets Via Twitter have announced that they have signed INF Rylan Bannon to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.

Rylan will turn 28 in April.  He bats and throws right.  He is currently listed on the Syracuse Mets Roster.

According to FanGraphs, he has no minor league options remaining.

He has played 6 seasons in the minors with just 7 MLB at-bats.  While he has also played 2B (159 minor games) and SS (10 minor games) his primary position is 3B (355 minor games).  

He is Money-Ball type player with power and a high on-base average.  Last year for Houston's AAA team he hit 18 HRs, 6 RBIs, 63 walks, 90 Ks in 408 plate appearances while slashing .241/.360/.449 - .810 OPS.  

He will provide depth at AAA though the Mets have quite a number of infielders in Syracuse including Luke Ritter and Jose Peroza who also play primarily 3B and bat and throw right handed.  In addition, Syracuse will likely have infielders who will get promoted from AA, Jeremiah Jackson 3B/SS/OF, Luisangel Acuna SS/2B and Rowdey Jordan 3B/2B/OF.
