From the Mets 7 Rockies 6 Post Game Notes - 7/12/2024:

Mets:
  • Mets extend their win streak to four games... Have a record of 26-12 in their last 38 games.
  • New season high of five home runs as a team...The five home runs by the Mets are tied for the second-most in a game at Citi Field since the ballpark opened in 2009...The last time the Mets had players with multi-home run games was 6/9/21 vs. Baltimore (McKinney and Pillar).
  • 4th time this season they have hit back-to back home runs.
Sean Manaea:
  • Has thrown seven innings in two of his last three starts...fourth time of the season reaching over 100 pitches.

Mark Vientos:

  • Hit a solo home run in the second inning to cut the deficit to 2-1...He is now tied for fifth-most home runs among third baseman with 12...Roped a double down the left field line to extend the Mets lead 4-2...His fourth game of his career having multiple extra base hits as well as multiple RBI (Last: 6/25 vs. New York- AL).

Harrison Bader:

  • Launched a solo home run to left center field in the second inning to put the Mets in front 3-2...Hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to push the Mets lead to 6-2...His second career multi-home run game (Last: 9/15/19).

Jose Iglesias:

  • Went back-to-back with Vientos in the second inning to tie the game up at 2-2...Pulled a solo shot in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-2...It was his first career multi-home run game...He has now at 50 career home runs.
Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets hit five home runs and their starting pitcher gave seven innings. Easy win, right? Well, actually, no. The Rockies had the tying and go-ahead runs on in the ninth inning. But all’s well that ends well and the Mets hung on for a 7-6 win Friday night at Citi Field. The Mets are now three games over .500 and are 8-4 in the month of July."

NY Post: Mets bash five home runs, avoid late collapse in raucous win over Rockies. "Jake Diekman and newcomer Phil Maton combined to allow three runs and two homers in the eighth, but Edwin Diaz worked a scoreless ninth for his 10th save after walking two with two outs.  Of the 13 runs the Mets have allowed on this homestand, eight have been given up by the beleaguered bullpen in just 10 ²/₃ innings of work. Carlos Mendoza was ejected for the first time as Mets manager in the seventh inning arguing balls and strikes, but his team finished off the win without him."

NY Post: Sean Manaea continues Mets rotation’s strong July in win over Rockies. "The quintet of Luis Severino, Jose Quintana, David Peterson, Christian Scott and Sean Manaea have been on a roll of late, combining for a 2.79 ERA in 12 starts this month with 24 walks and 50 strikeouts in 74 ⅓ innings pitched. Manaea continued the strong work, holding the Rockies to three earned runs while striking out nine over seven innings in the Mets’ 7-6 victory."

NY Post: Mark Vientos continues to prove he belongs with another Mets blast "Vientos on Friday night further pleaded his case while helping the Mets climb to a 7-6 victory over the Rockies, swatting a pair of extra-base hits along the way, including his 12th home run of the season."

The bottom of the seventh inning will be played no matter what the score is. If the game is tied after seven, there will be an eighth inning; if it is tied after that, the game will end in a tie."
