PRESS RELEASE: METS ACQUIRE RHP TYLER ZUBER

 



 

FLUSHING, N.Y., July 30, 2024 – The New York Mets today announced they have acquired right-handed pitcher Tyler Zuber from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Ty Adcock has been designated for assignment.

 

Zuber, 29, has appeared in two games with the Rays this year, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts across 3.1 innings. He has appeared in 56 major league games with the Royals (2020-21) and Rays (2024).

 

He appeared in 18 games with the Rays Triple-A affiliate in Durham this season, going 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA (6 ER/21.2 IP) with six walks and 29 strikeouts. Additionally, he spent time with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League, going 0-1 with a 1.59 ERA (1 ER/5.2 IP) with one walk and 10 strikeouts in six appearances. He was originally selected by the Kansas City Royals in the sixth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Arkansas State University.

 

Gervase was selected by the Mets in the 12th round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft. He appeared in 22 games with Double-A Binghamton this season, going 3-2 with a 3.25 ERA (10 ER/27.2 IP) with five saves, 17 walks and 46 strikeouts. In 68 games across the three seasons, the right-handed pitcher went 8-5 with a 2.81 ERA (30 ER/96.0 IP) with 12 saves, 66 walks and 158 strikeouts.
