Earlier Tuesday, before National League Division Series Game 3, Manaea lost his aunt Mabel. He didn’t have time to grieve. He needed to pitch. And that is precisely what Manaea did, throwing seven of the finest innings of his career in a 7-2 win over the Phillies that pushed the Mets to the cusp of the NL Championship Series."

"In the sixth, Manaea began to teeter, issuing walks to Schwarber and Turner to put two on with no outs...But Mendoza stuck with his top starter, and Manaea rewarded him. He struck out Harper on three pitches...Manaea recorded his final six outs on just 13 pitches. Two of them — with two on and one out in the sixth — came on Nick Castellanos’ line drive to Iglesias for a double play."


NY Post: Mets come up with three big two-out hits in key Game 3 victory. "Starling Marte, Jose Iglesias and Francisco Lindor, who drove in the final five runs Tuesday, all connected on hits with two outs — with those once-insurance runs morphing into the difference-making ones after the Phillies ended the shutout bid with two in the eighth."


NY Post: Mets’ sparkling defensive gems outshine Phillies’ flops in NLDS Game 3. "With one out in the fourth, Alec Bohm smacked a drive that one-hopped the wall in right-center...It hit the warning track, then the wall and then Taylor’s hand, wheeling and making a throw that bounced once before reaching Lindor at second base. Lindor waited for the ball to reach him, the throw hopping over a sliding Bohm and Lindor catching it with his glove attached to Bohm’s helmet for a nifty tag."
