Ramirez stays hot with 4-hit game

PRESS RELEASE: PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 13, 2022) – The St. Lucie Mets offensive surge continued on Wednesday as the Mets beat the Clearwater Threshers 9-3 at Clover Park.

Alex Ramirez went 4 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI, eight Mets registered a hit and three Mets homered after the team entered the day with just one home run through the first four games.

The Mets trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning but that changed quickly when Carlos Dominguez slugged a three-run homer with two outs on a two-strike pitch from Micah Ottenbreit. It was Dominguez's second homer of the season. He also hit a grand slam on a two out, two strike pitch on Saturday.

Ramirez ripped a RBI double in the second inning to up the lead to 4-2. Ramirez added another RBI hit in the fourth to make it 6-3.

Cesar Berbesi and Drake Osborn hit back-to-back solo home runs in the eighth inning to complete the scoring. For Berbesi the home run came on his 22nd birthday.

Mets starter Dominic Hamel, New York's third round pick last summer from Dallas Baptist, made his first appearance of the season. He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out four.

Grant Hartwig stranded five base runners in two scoreless innings of work to collect the win.

Franklin Sanchez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings and Miguel Alfonseca recorded the last two outs via strikeout.

The Mets (4-1) will try to extend their winning streak to three games when they meet the Threshers (0-5) again on Thursday. It's Dollar Night at Clover Park with $1 beer (8 oz. cans of Bud and Bud Light), $1 soda, $1 popcorn and $2 hot dogs.
