Game Recap and Highlights: Consuegra, Tilien Homer in St. Lucie Mets 7-4 Win



St. Lucie wins 3rd straight game following 3 game losing streak 

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (May 13, 2022) – St. Lucie Mets pulled away for a 7-4 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Friday night at Clover Park. (Box Score) 

After the game was scoreless at the halfway point, the Mets got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth when Omar De Los Santos led off with a triple and scored on a Drake Osborn sac fly for a 1-0 Mets lead. 

The Flying Tigers got back-to-back doubles from Justice Bigbie and Eduardo Valencia to start the sixth inning, which tied the game 1-1. Later in the inning Stanley Consuegra threw out Valencia at home plate from left field to end the inning and preserve the tie. 

One pitch later, to start the bottom of the sixth, Consuegra hit a go-ahead home run off the batter's eye for a 2-1 Mets advantage. 

Junior Tilien blasted a three-run homer later in the sixth to make it 5-1. It was his first of the season. 

The Flying Tigers got a two-run homer from Jose De La Cruz in the eighth to cut the Mets lead to 5-3. The Mets answered with two runs in the home eighth on a De Los Santos RBI single and another Osborn sac fly to go back up by four, 7-3. 

Lakeland scored a run in the ninth and loaded the bases, but Nate Jones got Bigbie to hit into a fielder's choice to end the game. 

Mets starter Carson Seymour received a no decision after logging 5.0 shutout innings. Seymour has now pitched 25 innings this year and given up just one earned run. His ERA sits at 0.36. 

Trey McLoughlin got credit for the win after limiting Lakeland to one run in 2.0 innings. 

Jones earned his second save by pitching the final 1.1 innings and holding the Flying Tigers to one run. 

De Los Santos went 2 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored. 

Jackson Jobe, the No. 3 overall pick by Detroit in 2021, started for Lakeland. He pitched 3.0 shutout innings with two strikeouts on just 28 pitches. 

The Mets (21-10) and Flying Tigers (13-17) play the fifth game of their series at Clover Park on Saturday. First pitch is 6:10 p.m. The will be postgame fireworks and worship band Abba's House will perform as part of Faith & Family Night.
