MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (9-9) knocked off the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 5-3, in 10 innings on Friday night at Delta Dental Stadium. The Ponies have taken three of the first four games in the series.
With the game tied 2-2 in the 10th inning, José Peroza was the automatic runner on second base. Matt Rudick singled and Wyatt Young walked to load up the bases. Later in the frame, Rowdey Jordan came through with an RBI single to give Binghamton a 3-2 lead. The Ponies added two more runs on an RBI fielder's choice from Alex RamÃrez that scored Rudick, and Young scored on an error to make it 5-2.
Trey McLoughlin came in out of the bullpen for the 10th inning and allowed the automatic runner to score on an RBI double from Josh Kasevich, which made Binghamton's lead 5-3. McLoughlin slammed the door and earned his first save of the season.
Binghamton got the scoring started in the third inning with a solo home run from Rudick that made it 1-0. Rudick hit a go-ahead two-run homer in his final plate appearance on Thursday and a solo shot in his first plate appearance on Friday.
The Ponies added to their lead in the sixth inning. Jordan hit a one-out double, stole third base, and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Kevin Parada that made it 2-0. Jordan had a four-hit game with the go-ahead RBI in the 10th, two doubles, a run, and a stolen base.
New Hampshire (8-11) got on the board against Joander Suárez in the sixth inning with a solo homer from Garrett Spain that cut Binghamton's lead to 2-1. Suárez was efficient in his fourth start of the season. He allowed just one run over six innings with two strikeouts.
The Fisher Cats tied the game in the eighth inning. Miguel Hiraldo hit a leadoff single against Daniel Juarez and later scored on an RBI groundout from Gabriel Martinez that made it 2-2.
Wilkin Ramos (1-0) allowed the inherited runner to score in the eighth to tie the game but went on to retire the next four batters. Ramos struck out the side in the ninth to force extra innings.
