Brian Joura Mets360: "The game got off to a good start, with Pete Alonso getting an infield single, which was a hit with RISP that gave the Mets a 1-0 lead. The team that scored first won the previous five games. But the Dodgers took the lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back."

Mark Vientos homered in the 4th.  His two run shot gave him 14 for a single Post season, a new Mets record.

David Lennon Newsday: Mets' stunning playoff ride runs out of magic in NLCS Game 6 loss to Dodgers. "By the third inning the Mets were exactly where they didn’t want to be. Down 6-1, Manaea already was history, and that marked a way too early start for a relief corps that needed to ration as many bullets as possible."

Jason Fry Faith and Fear in Flushing: "Sean Manaea didn’t have his putaway stuff, Phil Maton looked gassed, and Kodai Senga turned in one good inning but not a second. Meanwhile, the hitters worked solid ABs and kept creating traffic, but couldn’t get the big hit they needed: They were 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position, and left 13 men on base."

Tim Healey Newsday: Mets fall to Dodgers in NLCS Game 6, are eliminated from MLB playoffs. "A postseason run that originated from and continued with the proverbial one big hit — Francisco Lindor in Atlanta, Pete Alonso in Milwaukee, Lindor again at Citi Field against the Phillies — ended with the Mets needing but lacking exactly that."

In Game Seven, the hometown A's capture their second consecutive World Championship, defeating the Mets, 5-2, when Darold Knowles, coming out of the bullpen with two outs and two on in the ninth, gets Wayne Garrett to pop out. The 31 year-old southpaw reliever, who hurls 6.1 Fall Classic innings without giving up an earned run en route to recording two saves, is the first pitcher to appear in all seven games of a World Series.
