"Mets owner Steve Cohen led a contingent of high-ranking club officials to meet with coveted free agent superstar Juan Soto on Saturday in Orange County, Calif., The Post has learned...Word is the Mets presentation was a “big production” and “very detailed.”...Sources say Mets baseball president David Stearns and manager Carlos Mendoza joined Cohen for the California confab, and are also said to have made a positive impression."

"These honors are handed out by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, whose members vote...Each award has a voting committee of 30 — two writers representing each of the 15 cities in that league...Ballots are cast before the postseason. "Though starting pitcher Luis Severino loves playing in New York, it’s likely that he declines the qualifying offer from the Mets, a league source said, in favor of trying to land a multiyear deal. The deadline for players to decide on qualifying offers is Tuesday...In 2024, he made 31 starts (182 innings) and had a 3.91 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 161 strikeouts. Severino, who’ll turn 31 in February, also had a 3.24 ERA over three postseason starts for the Mets." (Subscription Required)
11/16/24 Mets Roster Moves: Sign 2B Donovan Walton, assign to Syracuse "The New York Mets announced on the transactions tab of their Roster Page that they have signed Second Baseman Donovan Walton and have assigned him to Syracuse. "He slashed .306/.380/.441 in 99 AAA games last year and is a very good fielder. Just one error in 95 games in the field including no errors at 2B, 56 games...He also pitched 10 games for the Giants in AAA last year, 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA, 10 games, 12 innings, 11 hits, 2 Ks; His fastball barely touches 70 MPH but he did throw two scoreless innings in extra innings for a win. While he may be a good guy in a "save the pen blowout", he is not a two-way pitcher in the mold of a Shohei Ohtani."
