Yesterday Morning the Mets announced that John Stearns had passed away. "John Stearns, a catcher played with the Mets for 10 years (1975-1984) and earned four All-Star selections, died late last night in Denver, CO after a long battle with cancer. Stearns also coached on the major league staff with the Mets from 2000-2001. He was 71. He is survived by his son, Justin, brothers, Richard and William and his sister, Carla."

St. Lucie still doesn't know who or where they will play in the next round of Florida State League Playoffs as the game between the Dunedin Blue Jays and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels was postponed. The teams will try again today at noon. The Championship round is scheduled to start tomorrow with St. Lucie on the road.
