SNY.TV: Should the Mets bring back Brandon Nimmo?
Danny Abriano SNY.TV: How can Mets add needed influx of power to offense during 2022-23 offseason? Some internal options should help, but the Mets will likely have to go outside the organization to add more punch. Some of the options given: Francisco Alvarez, Trea Turner, Carlos Correa and Shohei Ohtani.
Jon Heyman NY Post: Ranking Mets’ free-agent priorities from Edwin Diaz all the way down to Jacob deGrom. 1. Edwin Diaz; 2. Brandon Nimmo; 3. Taijuan Walker; 4. Chris Bassitt; 5. Adam Ottavino; 6. Seth Lugo; and at #7...Jacob deGrom!
The Athletic pooled it's Mets reader's about top games of 2022 (the 7 run 9th inning comeback against Philly came in at #1) and they ask this question: If the Mets can only re-sign one player from the 2022 team, whom should they prioritize? - Diaz came in 1st with 54%, deGrom 2nd at 27,9% and Brandon Nimmo 3rd with 17.5%.
Jon Heyman NY Post: Mets’ Billy Eppler inquired about Joe Musgrove with MLB before sticky-stuff check. "Sources say Mets general manager Billy Eppler messaged a league official about what was going on in Game 3 of the wild-card round after receiving several messages to his phone. Eppler made his contact earlier in the game, before Showalter approached the umpire, but a team source suggested it was more inquiry than complaint at that point."
NY Post: Mets teammate Drew Smith jumps on Instagram to make Edwin Diaz ‘$100’ free agency pitch.
If Justin Verlander declines his $25 million player option for 2023, should the Mets take a run at him in free agency?

1973 |
In Game Seven, the hometown A's
capture their second consecutive World Championship, defeating the Mets, 5-2,
when Darold
Knowles, coming out of the bullpen with two outs and two on in the ninth,
gets Wayne
Garrett to pop out. The 31 year-old southpaw reliever, who hurls 6.1 Fall
Classic innings without giving up an earned run en route to recording two
saves, is the first pitcher to appear in all seven games of a World Series. |
1986 |
After losing the first two World
Series games at home, the Mets beat the Red Sox at Fenway Park, 7-1. Lenny
Dykstra's first-inning home run marks the third time in history in which
the Mets' leadoff hitter has homered in the initial inning of Game 3 of the
Fall Classic. The feat was also accomplished by Tommy Agee
(1969) and Wayne
Garrett (1973). |
2000 |
In the longest World Series game
ever played, the Yankees take Game 1 of the Subway Series, thanks to Jose
Vizcaino's 12th inning two-out single, defeating the Mets, 4-3, in four
hours and fifty-one minutes. The victory surpasses the streak established by
the Murderers' Row clubs, as the present Bronx Bombers win their 13th
consecutive World Series game. |
2015: The Mets complete a sweep of the Cubs in the NLCS with an 8 - 3 win at Wrigley Field. They score 4 runs in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd to run away with the game, while Daniel Murphy, who is named MVP of the series, sets a new postseason record by homering in his sixth straight game.
10/21/2015 Thanks to home runs from Lucas Duda, Travis d’Arnaud and Daniel Murphy, the Mets sweep the Cubs to advance to their first World Series since 2000.
