Tampa Bay times: Mets slugger Pete Alonso returns to where it all began in Tampa. "On Saturday, he hosted a home run derby with top local baseball and softball players to raise money for his foundation. The Pete Alonso Foundation will make grants through the city of Tampa each year. The West Tampa Little League, where Alonso played as a kid, will be the first to benefit. Alonso said he wants to make sure fields are safe for young players to ensure their early experiences with the game are positive."

SNY.TV: Pete Alonso mum on extension talk, says Mets are 'on brink of something extremely special'.  "'I know that we don’t just want to win one. We want to win multiple championships'. 'We have great talent. And I feel like we made some really positive additions. So it’s gonna be really exciting.'"

Joel Sherman NY Post: Buck Showalter’s plan to address MLB rule changes as Mets face increased challenge. Mets will have to get players used to the new rules such as the pitch clock and no shifts while a majority of their players will be playing under the old rules in the WBC classic which Joel notes: "the Mets are going to have both more players and more essential players leave than perhaps any organization...And if you are playing for one of the countries that reaches the March 21 final in Miami, you will return to your team about a week before the March 30 regular-season opener."

NY Daily News: Bill Madden: Where do Steve Cohen's Mets stand after moving on from Carlos Correa? "In all probability, the missing link power bat Showalter is looking for will have to come from within in the person of Brett Baty, whose surgically repaired thumb will be monitored closely this spring. Believe it, there was nobody more elated by Correa deal going south than Baty, who feels his time has come."

MLB.com: '23 international signing period to begin today. "The international signing period starts Sunday and runs through Dec. 15, 2023...The base signing pool for the Astros, Blue Jays, Braves, Cardinals, Cubs, Giants, Mets, Nationals, White Sox and Yankees is $5,284,000."
